Sick Baby Must Haves, by a first time mommy

Our Faves
Hello dolls,
Im Doing Much Better

As some of you may know Camila has been sick for the past week and it has been one of the scariest, most exhausting weeks of my life. I know all you mommies out there know what I mean when I say seeing your baby sick is probably one of the worst things in the world. I am so thankful I have so many loving, knowledgable and experienced family and friends that helped us get through Mila's first illness. After a trip to the urgent care & pediatrician we found out she has Bronchiolitis and she is on her way back to her normal, happy self thank The Lord. After experiencing such a crazy time I thought I would write a post about all the products that saved us and we probably couldn't have survived without.

Sick Baby Must Haves:

1.
Boogie Wipes- these wipes are amazing and so soft and gentle on baby skin, plus they have saline which helps heal little noses even faster.

2.
Humidifier- our humidifier helped keep Mila's throat moist when all she did was cough and cough and be miserable. We literally kept it right next to us at all times. (Just make sure to sanitize it well). P.S. If it gets really bad taking your baby in the bathroom while you run the hot steamy water really helps too.

3.
Vaporizer- we loved using our Vicks vaporizer to open up Mila's congested airways, also was by us at all times.

4.
Essential Oil Diffuser- we were loving the perfect sleep & eucalyptus oils during this time, really helped her breathe better.

5.
Nose Freida & Saline Nasal Drops- I can't stress enough how amazing the nose Frieda is, I was using that thing all day and night to clear out her congestion (I always use saline( Little Remedies is my fav) before to make sure It's not too dry in there & also to soothe her)

6.
Baby Rubs- Dominicans have a whole line of baby rubs that they swear by and I am no different so I was massaging Camila every 4 hours with Sebo de Flande, Aceite de Iguereta, Bronchina and Baby Vicks. If you don't know where to find these most likely a Hispanic supermarket or Dominican Bodega will have them.

7.
Hydration! -keep those fluids going! Thank God we are still breast feeding because the immunoglobulins in breast milk are antibodies that your body makes specially for your baby to fight whatever infection or virus they are fighting. Mila did not want to eat much at all during the worst days of her virus but I was trying to feed her every 2 hours even if it was just an ounce to keep her hydrated. Normally 6-8 wet diapers in 24 hours is the goal, but while sick we were only gettin about 4-5. Very scary but keep on nursing/feeding those babies and soon they'll be back to normal.

8.
Nebulizer with Saline Solution- this may not be necessary for every illness, but Mila was so congested that luckily her doctor prescribed it and it helped loosen up the mucus so much.

9.
Last but not least lots & lots of love- it is so amazing how much just your touch, voice, smell & comfort can soothe your baby. Mila slept on me practically the whole time she was sick. She was so uncomfortable & kept waking up all night/day and I would just rock her, sing to her and she would eventually fall back asleep. Once she started feeling better she slept on her Doc A Tot in our bed, and just last night she went back to her room.

I hope this post helps some mommies out there! It's so scary when your baby is sick and feels so good to know you're not alone and you and your babe will get through this.

Sending lots of love, light, & HEALTHY vibes!

xoxo
