New York State of Mind |
It is so nice to be back in the warm weather compared to 10 degrees (feels like -11) in NYC. Nothing beats tanning by the pool in a bathing suit jamming to my playlist which is exactly what I did all day today. With that being said, there is something so special about New York that has always attracted me towards it. When I was applying to college I applied to two schools in NYC because it was always my dream to move there some day. Plans changed, my parents moved back to Dominican Republic and I decided to go to college in Miami. Little did I know that my dream of moving to New York was still in my future. As of now our plan is to have Camila here in FL and move to NY once she is about 3 months old. Jestyn and I both envision raising our family in FL in the future, but right now NY is what is best for our family and it is where God is calling us to start some important projects and get established. Naturally this is a scary/exciting/nerve-wrecking/challenging/happy/sad transition for me since ALL of my best friends are here and a lot of my family is here and in Dominican Republic (just an hour and a half away). Thankfully I have the amazing support of my fiance, friends and family throughout this huge change in my life and I do not know how I would do it without them. Also, I must say that normally I get stressed very easily and am always planning & making lists, but for some reason I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquility about my future that I can only thank God for. So for the next few months I will be soaking up the sun and enjoying as much quality time with my girls and family as possible until it's time to head to NY!
Here's a quick re-cap of our trip to NYC:

NYC/Flying essentials while preggers:
1. If you're going to NYC in the winter you must layer, layer, layer! On an average day I had a pair of tights+leggings+jeans +socks+boots and a tank top+long sleeve shirt+sweater+coat+scarf+hat+gloves.
2. The freezing cold+ heater makes your skin EXTREMELY dry! I recommend an extra thick moisturizer like Eucerin or Vaseline on top of your pregnancy moisturizer (mine is a homemade coconut oil, shea butter and cocoa butter mixture.)
3. During the flight I recommend a comfortable traveling pillow and pants that come on and off easily because the peeing seems to increase. (I went about 5x on a two and half hour flight)
4. It is also recommended to walk around, stand up and stretch every hour when flying while pregnant since we are more prone to blood clots and even more so at high altitudes.
5. Stay hydrated & don't forget your vitamins! It's hard to stay on schedule with drinking enough water and taking your prenatals & supplements when your out of your routine, but it is even more important due to the change in climate and increase in germs and bacteria in close proximity on the airplanes, trains, taxis, etc.
6. Relax & have fun!
Now for an update on Camila:
